Jack White returned to Detroit this week, but his first hometown gig didn't go quite as planned.

On Monday night, White put on a show at the historic Fox Theater, a venue he recently told the Detroit Free Press sometimes makes people "feel like they're watching a movie."

Half an hour into the show White said goodbye and had the stagehands close the curtain after apparently becoming too frustrated with the lackluster audience.  But he eventually returned and told the crowd that he knew they'd be able to "overcome comfortable seating and beautiful lighting to make something as real as possible."  He added, quote, "This isn't Gone with the Wind in the 1930s, all right?"

White went on to play a pair of encores that featured 22 songs from his solo albums as well as his work with the White Stripes, Raconteurs, and the Dead Weather.

White's visit to Detroit also included a trip to Comerica Park on Tuesday to throw out the first pitch at the Detroit Tigers game.  He's also set to play the Masonic Temple Theatre Wednesday night.
